Partners of ChemCon Americas 2016:

ChemCon The Americas 2016, our 20th anniversary and 5th ChemCon The Americas, took place from October 17th to 21st, 2016 in Toronto Canada. More than 170 experts from 26 countries representing more than 100 companies, authorities and associations have attended the conference and contributed to the exchange of experiences and discussion about regulatory affairs around the globe.

The week started with a massive Monday program after a kick-off workshop on the Canadian Chemicals Management Plan - CMP3) an in-depth pre-conference seminar was held on the modernized US Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), through implementation of the new landmark legislation entitled the “Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act”. In the afternoon followed by an in-depth pre-conference seminar on Global Supply Chain Transparency & Stakeholders.

During the conference sessions a variety of aspects of international chemical control legislation around the globe was discussed. Hands on topics related to Canadian, American, Brazilian, European, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian and Thai regulations as well as practical implementation of GHS were of high relevance to the audience.

Up-to-date information on current and emerging chemical control legislation in The Americas (e.g. USA, Canada, Mexico and Brazil), Europe (eg EU, Russia and Turkey) and the Asia-Pacific (e.g. China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia and New-Zealand) were highlighted and discussed. As always practical advice and lessons learned by industry were well received, since they show how to act within the legal frameworks set. Furthermore, there was a focus on other control legislation also relevant for the chemical industry like endocrine disruptors, nanomaterials and biocides and as well as an outlook to a more sustainable future of the chemical industry. Also enforcement experiences and approaches to global notification of new substances were shared.
