ChemCon Asia 2017 - Beijing

Partners of ChemCon Asia 2017:

ChemCon Asia 2017 took place in Beijing, China from June 19th to 23rd, 2017. 250 experts from 29 countries representing more than 130 companies, authorities and associations have attended the conference and contributed to the exchange of experiences and discussion about regulatory affairs around the globe.

The week started with an exciting Monday program; first a workshop on New Chemical Notification in China, followed by an in-depth seminar on Global approach to new chemicals, polymers and biocides. In the afternoon, another in-depth seminar focusing on Korea.

During the conference sessions, a variety of aspects of international chemical control legislation around the globe was discussed. Hands on topics related to Chinese, Korean and other key developments in Asia, as well as European REACH and Australian and Unites States updates were of high relevance to the audience.

Up-to-date information on current and emerging chemical control legislation in the Asia-Pacific (e.g. Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam), The Americas (e.g. USA, Canada and Brazil), and as well as Europe (e.g. EU, Russia and Turkey) were highlighted and discussed. As always practical advice and lessons learned by industry were well received, since they show how to act within the legal frameworks set. Both authorities and industry shared their views on global risk assessment approaches. Furthermore, there was a focus on other control legislation also relevant for the chemical industry like cosmetics, food contact, nanomaterials, ROHS and transport. Moreover, we looked into relevant approaches for a more sustainable future of the chemical industry like digitalisation and circular economy. Also, emergency prevention and response practices, supply chain communication and transparency and downstream user requirements and experiences were shared by industry.
